The led flashlight has made a lot of progress from a primitive torch to brilliant long lasting LED lamps, to sun powered rechargeable flashlights. The old style flashlights utilized alkaline batteries, their lamps were not designed to be used for a long time, and the lamps were weak. New advancements improved upon the performance and function of traditional flashlights, but these flashlights still required their environmentally damaging alkaline batteries to be changed frequently. Besides battery replacement, traditional flashlights break often, and the strength of their light is still inferior.

LED flashlights use a cluster of LEDs (light emitting diodes) instead of single, regular light bulbs, and give off a bright beam that won’t go dim in a hurry. LEDs are several times more light-efficient than traditional bulbs, which means it takes a lot less power to make them shine brightly. This also means that the batteries last longer than in a regular flashlight, so you’re less likely to be left in the dark.

A variety of different models of the original rechargeable flashlight are now on the market. Some styles use electricity to recharge, some are powered by solar energy, and the bulbs in the flashlight can be Xenon, halogen, or LED lights. So, now you can obviously see for your self just how advanced these new flashights have become.

There are many different places to buy LED flashlights, but some of the best selections and prices can be found online, particularly from outlets that offer electronic goods directly from the factories in China. So what are you waiting for? Check out your favorite online electronics store today for the coolest new LED flashlights and other gadgets.

LED or light-emitting diodes, have become popular for Christmas lights and televisions. They are also used in camping lanterns. They give off a very bright light and are very energy efficient. Because of this energy efficiency, the battery life can last longer than on other types of lanterns. Some run for 60 to 70 hours on one set of batteries.

Solar Camping Lanterns

These types of lanterns run on the power of the sun. They come with a small solar panel that will charge the battery during the day so that it can give light for the night. Many will also come with an outlet charger. This type of lantern is ideal for those who like to camp away from crowded campgrounds and electrical access.

Propane Camping Lanterns

Propane Camping Lanternhave been used by campers for decades. It uses the gas propane to light a flame in the lantern. It is important to make sure that plenty of fuel is brought on the camping trip. The fuel is not expensive and can easily be found at any camp store and places like Wal-Mart and Target. Campers also need to remember that this type of lantern is very flammable and care needs to be taken when using it.

Camping Lanterns for Kids

If children are going to be going on a camping trip, there are several kid-friendly camping lanterns. These lanterns made for kids are extra safe and are made to make a child feel comfortable and secure in the great outdoors. They come in all sorts of different types like LED, solar powered, and so on. Take the child to a camping store to let her pick out a camping lantern that is just for her.

When choosing a camping lantern, do some research, read online reviews, and talk to fellow campers before buying one. The important thing is to find a lantern that is reliable, easy to use, and will make all the campers feel safe.

I’ve made a few changes since my last post.
Sold my ART DMPA II preamp, in the process of selling my PRO VLA II. I hate to let it go, but it’s time to upgrade to better things.

I finally bought an API Lunchbox. I’ve been meaning to do that for a while. Obviously the next step is to fill that lunchbox!

Sooo…

I ordered a Five Fish Studios X12-mk200 to be my first fairly professional quality preamp.
After reading around on Gearslutz and Prodigy Pro I decided I wanted to try my hand at a DIY build. I decided on the ClassicAPI VP26. Well, there wasn’t much to decide since the reviews of this preamp were nothing but amazing. How could I say no to a preamp that perfectly captures the sound of a vintage API console preamp?!

To top it all off, I received confirmation from Steve’s Music that they are able to order the Elysia Xpressor for me. So that will be here soon. NOW you see why I’m selling my PRO VLA!

I’m also in the process of building two active DI boxes to feed guitar through my new preamps when they arrive. I’m using the Bo Hansen project for the design. I haven’t decided on which transformers to go with though. I’ll probably stick an OEP in one of them and maybe a Haufe in the other. We’ll see…

Amusingly enough, the ClassicAPI VP26 arrived two days ago. One of my neighbours held on to it for me since the mailman left it sitting in the hallway in front of my door while I was at work.

So, without further ado I give you a photo diary of my first preamp build!

Flashlights today are brighter and more efficient than those of the past thanks to the introduction of new technologies in bulbs. Lower energy demand also means the use of less battery power which translates into smaller and lighter-weight flashlights.

Light emitting diodes are the light source in an LED flashlight. Because of their size and capability, they are used in promotional items (especially those that blink), traffic lights, overhead office lighting, and signs. Flashlights and other hand-held items are a great place to use diodes because of the LEDs’ durability and the increase in the life of the batteries. LEDs work because of the diode–a semiconductor electronic component that contains two electrodes, also called terminals, that generate light when electricity runs through them. Each diode contains a semiconductor chip and a reflective cup and are housed in a clear or colored epoxy. They attach to a socket via two terminals, one anode (flowing into) and the other cathode (flowing out of). LED flashlights are flashlights that have replaced the traditional bulb with a light emitting diode.
There are many advantages to using an LED light source. LEDs last longer, are more reliable and use much less energy. Because they are housed in a plastic coating, they are much sturdier and respond to being dropped or abused without breaking like an incandescent bulb might. Because they operate at such low temperatures, their shelf life is many times more than a traditional bulb. Turning them on and off causes minimal wear and tear. One of the disadvantages is susceptibility to damage by static electricity. More importantly, the intensity of an LED can cause eye damage if looked at directly by unprotected eyes. Never stare directly into an LED flashlight.

With so many flashlights around, from the LED flashlight to the shake flashlight to the rechargeable flashlight, it becomes hard to know what exactly is available, where, and for how much. Read on to learn how to find and buy the flashlight.
Make a list of all potential uses for your new flashlight. Perhaps it will be used only in power outages. A lot of people use flashlights for doing work around the house. Do you tinker around in cramped quarters? Will you take it camping or outdoors? All of these factors can help you determine what kind of flashlight to buy. Keep them in mind as you make decisions regarding bulb type, power source and body style.
Choose what style of bulb fits your needs best. The bulb is the heart of the flashlight and determines brightness and range. Incandescent bulbs are the most common. These bulbs are cheap and provide adequate light. However, they can break easily if jostled or dropped. Because of that, many people are turning to LED flashlights. LEDs are praised most for their energy-saving abilities. Again, think about use. If you need a flashlight sporadically, go with an incandescent. If you’re more concerned with long-lasting light, choose an LED. You’ll also want to test out the flashlight’s range.
Decide what kind of batteries you want your flashlight to use. Most standard flashlights will use two to three C or D alkaline batteries, which are relatively cheap and definitely easy to find. Other choices include lithium batteries or rechargeable batteries. There are even solar-powered flashlights. The newest trend is “forever flashlights,” which don’t use batteries or lightbulbs. A tiny generator, activated by shaking the flashlight, powers it. Because nothing ever needs to be replaced, these flashlights are a good choice for someone who uses flashlights often.

Determine the style and size of flashlight you want. Flashlights can be made out of plastics or metals, which affects weight. Think of use. If you’ll be toting your flashlight outside or up ladders, you’ll want something compact and lightweight. For big jobs where a lot of light is needed, try a lantern style flashlight. Some people even prefer headlamp-style flashlights. Pen lights or mini flashlights are great for some projects and can be hooked to your keychain so you can always find them.

There comes a time in everyone’s life where you need to use a LED Flashlight.Whether you use it to illuminate a trick-or-treaters path or to shed some light until you locate the blown fuse in the fuse box, having a functioning flashlight is key. Here’s how to go about buying the Best flashlight.
Decide on the power source of your flashlight. There are flashlights which require the standard AAA, AA, C, or D batteries, and then there are flashlights that are rechargeable. There are a large variety of standard flashlights available, and they’re usually less expensive than rechargeable flashlights. Rechargeable, on the other hand, save you the effort of constantly buying and replacing old batteries.

Choose the light bulb you want your flashlight to have. The most common light bulbs are incandescent and LED. Flashlights that use incandescent bulbs produce less light output per watt, so they need a larger bulb to produce the same amount of light as an LED. Flashlights that use LED bulbs produce more light output per watt, resulting in a great savings of battery power, and a longer-lasting flashlight. The best way to compare the brightness of an incandescent and LED is to look at the lumen rating of the flashlight, which is the measure of how bright the flashlight is. A more uncommon bulb is the HID. Compared to an incandescent bulb, the HID is brighter, lasts longer, and is more shock resistant at the cost of being bulkier and more expensive.

Consider what kind of environment you’ll be using your flashlight in. Do you want a large, bulky flashlight, or will a small one be sufficient? Does your flashlight need to be waterproof? Determine how long you’ll be carrying the flashlight in your hand, and whether or not a comfortable grip is important. Do you need an ultra-sturdy flashlight, or will a cheaper one work just as well? Some flashlights build extra bulbs into the flashlight. Decide if you want an extra bulb handy, or maybe even a flashlight that uses multiple bulbs. Is color or style important? Cross off any flashlights that don’t meet your criteria for the perfect flashlight.
